Underwater Inspection
Technical ROV Survey
Inspection of underwater hulls, port structures and aquaculture nets using high-resolution ROVs. No diving, no dry dock, with a certified technical report.
Request Inspection100% ROV Inspection
MARES CHILE performs all its underwater inspections exclusively with ROVs (Remotely Operated Vehicles), with no divers required. This approach eliminates risk to personnel, reduces operating costs and provides safe access to hard-to-reach areas.
Our ROVs are fitted with high-resolution FullHD cameras, underwater LED lighting, integrated sonar and USBL georeferencing, allowing precise documentation of the location and condition of any underwater structure.
The ROV provides access to niche areas (sea chests, thruster tunnels, confined spaces under piers). It also integrates ultrasonic thickness measurement directly underwater, delivering NDT data within the same visual inspection operation.
Each inspection concludes with a complete technical report including video, USBL-georeferenced photographs, a thickness map where applicable, findings table and maintenance recommendations.

Types of inspection
Underwater hull of ships and vessels
Complete survey of hull, keel, propellers, rudders, sacrificial anodes and propulsion systems. Identification of fouling, corrosion and structural damage.
Port structures
Inspection of piles, breakwaters, bollards, fenders and basin floors. Detection of corrosion, scour and structural deterioration.
Aquaculture nets
Survey of nets, floats, mooring systems and cage structures. Identification of damage, obstructions and biofouling at aquaculture facilities.
Pipelines and underwater infrastructure
Inspection of underwater pipelines, cables and anchors. Condition assessment of coatings and supporting structures.
Ultrasonic Thickness Measurement
Non-destructive (NDT) thickness measurement on ship hulls, steel piping and mooring components, directly underwater. Pulsed Echo and Multiple Echo techniques with a Single Crystal transducer, in line with IACS and Classification Society standards.
Ultrasonic Thickness Measurement
MARES CHILE has ultrasonic thickness measurement capability for structural steel in marine environments, integrated into its ROV operations. This capability targets corrosion-driven thickness loss assessment on ship hulls, piles, buoys and other marine-port steel structures, including coated surfaces and hard-to-access areas.
The service focuses on obtaining technical data useful for inspection, maintenance and condition assessment, with digital measurement records and reading-verification tools for applications requiring greater traceability. It complements underwater visual inspections with objective data on structural condition, supporting technical decision-making, maintenance planning and review of critical areas.
